The Promotional Club concept will offer to all registered Quarter Horse owners the opportunity to show within their area of residence and once again enjoy showing their horses with a minimum of expense and travel time.
The OQHA formally recognizes the following Promotional Clubs in Ontario:
Area #l Quarter Horse Promotional Association OQHA
Area #2 Promotional Club OQHA
Area #3 Promotional Club OQHA
Area #4 Promotional Club OQHA
Area #5 Promotional Club OQHA
Area #6 Promotional Club OQHA
Area #7 Promotional Club
Area boundary lines are to be as established by the current OQHA Constitution. Members of Promotional Clubs shall be encouraged to be members of the OQHA, however, they shall not be required to be members. Directors of Promotional Clubs must be members of the OQHA. To be recognized, each Promotional Club must abide by the Constitution of the OQHA (where applicable). Any OQHA show may be approved for points by two Promotional Clubs providing approval is granted by both Promotional clubs involved. Each Promotional Club is responsible for acquiring and tabulating its own points. It is recommended that should the exhibitor and/or owner of a horse reside in an area where the Promotional Club is not active with a Year End Awards Program, that they apply to a bordering Promotional Club in order to be eligible to receive year end awards of that club.
The BOUNDARIES of Areas #1– #7 shall be as described below:
Area #1: the entire southwestern tip of Ontario eastward to Highway #4, Highway #4 from Lake Erie north to Highway #8 northwest along Highway #8 to Lake Huron. The city of London and all addresses therein shall be included in Area #1.
Area #2: From the eastern boundary of Area #1, as described above, easterly to Highway #6, from the north boundary of Owen Sound and south to Lake Ontario. All addresses east of Highway #6 will be considered in Area #3 and all addresses west and southeast of Highway #6 will now be considered to be in Area #2. The Queen Elizabeth Way south of Hamilton and easterly encompassing the Niagara Peninsula. The city 42 Ontario Quarter Horse News, March 2017 of Guelph and all addresses therein shall be included in Area #2. The downtown core of Hamilton is now in Area #2.
Area #3: From the eastern boundary of Area #2, as described above, easterly to Highway #11 at the northern county line of Muskoka county – following Highway #11 south to Highway #12 to Lake Ontario. The northern boundary shall be the county line of Muskoka.
Area #4: The eastern boundary of Area #3, as described above, easterly to Highway #41 from Pembroke south to Highway #2, west on Highway #2 to Highway #49, south on Highway #49 to Highway #33, east on Highway #33 to Lake Ontario. The county of Prince Edward shall be encompassed in Area #4. the northern boundary shall be the north county lines of Muskoka, Haliburton, Hastings and Renfrew Counties, between Highway #11 and that point where the Renfrew County border angles sharply north to meet the Quebec border.
Area #5: The eastern boundary of Area #4, as described above, easterly to the Quebec border. The northern boundary shall be the point formed by the northwest border of Renfrew County on the west and the border of Quebec on the east. The city of Pembroke and all addresses therein shall be included in Area #5.
Area #6: The northern portion of Ontario bordered west by Manitoba, west to the communities of Marathon, Longlac and strait North, east by Quebec and south by Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and the northern county lines of Muskoka, Haliburton, Hastings and Renfrew Counties (where Renfrew County line touches the Quebec border above Deep River).
Area #7: The Northern portion of Ontario bordered West by Manitoba, East to Marathon, Longlac and strait North, South by Lake Superior and the Ontario, United States border, namely the state of Minnesota. NOTE: Members living in towns or cities located on the boundary lines shall be responsible for informing the membership chairperson of the area in which they reside. Failure to do so shall be considered permission for the membership chairperson to locate that member in either of the areas divided by this boundary line, at his /her discretion.
